Resource navigators
Our cancer care navigators connect you with support groups, transportation, wig providers, financial assistance and more — so you can focus on your care.
At Atlantic Health, cancer resource navigators are available every day of the week to help minimize the burden of cancer on patients and their caregivers.
These non-medical volunteers, who are extensively trained by our cancer specialists and the American Cancer Society, provide information on resources and programs that assist patients before, during and after cancer treatment. Such resources, offered both within our cancer center and throughout the community, may include support groups, wig providers, transportation services, financial assistance and more, such as:
- Directing you to resources for diagnosis, cancer treatment and recovery
- Helping you to understand your diagnosis
- Coordinating appointments with providers to ensure you receive timely diagnosis and treatment
- Guidance with insurance, transportation, child/elder care, language translation
- Referrals to side effect management, wellness and survivorship programs
- Patients and their families can reach out to a cancer navigator at any point during the patient’s cancer journey.
Cancer patients can arrange for a resource navigator to visit them either by making a request through one of our nurses or through our patient and family information centers.
