Music therapy

For cancer patients, music therapy supports healing by helping patients relax, reduce stress and improve emotional well-being during cancer treatment.

At Atlantic Health, we believe that patients heal best in a relaxing environment. That's why several of our cancer centers offer music therapy, which improves mood, promotes relaxation and comfort, and reduces stress and pain.

  • Every Wednesday, at Morristown Medical Center, we offer a light piano performance called “Music in the Atrium” for the comfort and enjoyment of our patients and visitors.
  • At Overlook Medical Center, harp music is played every Wednesday in the lobby, as well as at special events. Complimentary music CDs are offered to patients during and after treatment to provide support and relaxation.
  • Chilton Medical Center provides environmental music therapy to ease the experience of patients receiving cancer treatment.

Private and group music therapy sessions

Morristown Medical Center also offers private and group music therapy sessions led by a board-certified music therapist for all interested patients and families. No prior music experience is necessary to benefit from this complimentary service.
