Our education programs cover every phase of pregnancy, birth and new parenting, from prenatal exercise to postpartum infant care, and features special classes for grandparents and siblings.

All of our instructors are certified professionals and our courses are evidence-based. Our schedule of group classes accommodates most people, but we can also offer private classes tailored to your needs.


Our parent-focused tours, classes and support groups

We offer convenient online childbirth classes for expectant parents. These classes are a great option if you can’t attend an in-person class or if you want extra education as you prepare for your baby’s arrival.

Our easy-to-use, web-based childbirth class helps you feel confident and prepared for labor, delivery and early parenthood. The course includes:

Once registered, you’ll receive instructions to access the course online. You may also print educational materials to keep for future reference, even after your access period ends.

Breastfeeding support group: The first weeks at home and beyond

This supportive group is designed for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. It offers a welcoming space to ask questions, share experiences, and learn practical tips for successful breastfeeding.

Topics may include:

  • Getting started with breastfeeding
  • Common feeding challenges and how to manage them
  • Returning to work while breastfeeding
  • Safe use of breast pumps
  • Proper milk storage

This class is ideal for parents looking for expert guidance and peer support during the early stages of breastfeeding.

New moms support group: First year together

This group focuses on supporting new mothers through the emotional and mental adjustments of the first year with a new baby. Participants can build connections with others while learning helpful skills to navigate daily parenting challenges.

Topics may include:

  • Stress reduction techniques
  • Problem-solving strategies
  • Emotional wellness during the postpartum period
  • Building a support network with other new moms

Postpartum support group

This group is designed to help new mothers adjust to their new role and develop coping strategies during the postpartum period. The group offers a safe, supportive environment to discuss common concerns and learn tools for self-care, balance and emotional health.

Prenatal programs at Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center

Baby basics

This class helps expecting parents understand what to expect when caring for a newborn. Learn how to support your baby’s health and safety through daily care, including bathing, diapering, soothing, sleep routines and recognizing when to call the pediatrician. A helpful option for first‑time parents and those welcoming a new baby into the family.

Breastfeeding

A supportive class focused on helping parents begin their breastfeeding journey with confidence. Taught by lactation professionals, this class covers positioning and latch, milk supply, pumping and storage, partner support and transitioning back to work while continuing to breastfeed.

Breastfeeding support group

A welcoming space for breastfeeding parents to connect, share experiences, and receive guidance. Led by lactation specialists, this group offers encouragement and practical support during the early weeks and beyond.

Calling all grandparents

This class helps grandparents understand today’s recommendations for infant care. Topics include safe sleep, feeding, bathing, car seat safety and creating a safe home environment for a new baby.

Prepared childbirth

This comprehensive childbirth education class supports expectant parents as they prepare for labor, birth and recovery. Topics include the stages of labor, comfort and coping techniques, pain management options and the role of the support partner. A maternity care overview is included.

Perinatal bereavement ceremony

A meaningful ceremony offering space for remembrance and healing for families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss. Family members are welcome to gather in reflection and support.

Prenatal yoga (virtual)

A gentle, mindfulness‑based class designed to support relaxation, flexibility and emotional well‑being during pregnancy. Participants practice breathing, meditation and prenatal yoga to help ease stress and strengthen connection with their baby.

Sibling preparation

Designed for children ages 3 to 10, this class helps siblings prepare for the arrival of a new baby. Through age‑appropriate activities, children learn what to expect and how they can be involved as a growing family adjusts.

ABCs of going home with your baby

This class focuses on practical newborn care skills that support a smooth transition home. Parents learn about feeding, bathing, diapering, soothing and safe sleep, along with guidance on car seat safety and home preparation.

Breastfeeding your baby: getting started

An introductory breastfeeding class that helps parents understand how breastfeeding works. Topics include milk production, skin‑to‑skin care, positioning and latch, feeding patterns and how to know your baby is feeding well. Support partners are encouraged to attend.

Breastfeeding your baby: beyond the first weeks

For parents who want to continue breastfeeding longer term. This class focuses on pumping, milk storage, maintaining supply and balancing breastfeeding with returning to work or other commitments.

Breastfeeding support group: The first weeks at home and beyond

An ongoing support group for breastfeeding parents and their babies. Sessions encourage open discussion and shared learning around common challenges, pumping, milk storage, and daily feeding routines.

Breathing and relaxation

This class teaches breathing and relaxation techniques that can help support comfort and focus during labor and delivery. Parents learn strategies that can be practiced before and during birth.

Childbirth mini class: your baby’s birth

A concise overview of the childbirth process. Topics include signs of labor, stages of birth, and when to go to the hospital. Includes time for questions with a nurse educator.

Especially for siblings

A family‑focused class designed to help young children understand what babies are like and how they can help. Parents also receive practical tips to support a smooth transition at home.

Great expectations: childbirth and infant care for multiples

Created for families expecting twins, triplets, or more. Topics include late‑pregnancy care, signs of preterm labor, birth options, and strategies for caring for more than one newborn.

Pregnancy massage

Prenatal massage is available to help relieve common physical and emotional discomforts of pregnancy, including muscle tension, back pain, fatigue, and stress. Provider guidance is required.

Prepared childbirth: instruction for labor and birth

An in‑depth childbirth education program covering labor and delivery, pain management options, hospital procedures, cesarean birth, and emotional and physical recovery after birth.

Baby care class (virtual)

This class helps expectant parents build confidence in caring for their newborn. Topics include feeding, bathing, diapering, soothing, safety, and knowing when to call the baby’s doctor. Educational materials are provided.

Breastfeeding (virtual)

An overview of breastfeeding designed to support a positive start. Topics include milk production, latch and positioning, nutrition and addressing common challenges.

Prepared childbirth (in person)

This class prepares expectant parents for labor, delivery, and the early postpartum period. Topics include stages of labor, comfort measures, pain management, medical procedures and recovery.

These tours allow you to explore our maternity units, learn what to expect during your hospital stay, and feel more prepared for labor and delivery.

Important information for in-person tours

To protect the safety and comfort of our inpatient mothers and newborns, children are not permitted on in-person tours. If you arrive with children, you will be asked to reschedule your tour.

Bringing children into the experience

If you would like your children to become familiar with the maternity unit, we offer a sibling class designed just for them. This class helps children prepare for welcoming a new baby into the family and is offered twice each year.
