Pediatric pulmonary testing lab
The Exercise and Extreme Environment Lab at Atlantic Health diagnoses abnormalities that occur only during physically stressful situations.
State-of-the-art lab
Some pediatric pulmonary conditions cannot be properly evaluated while a child is sitting at rest in an exam room. That’s why Atlantic Health has a Exercise and Extreme Environment Lab, which helps diagnose pulmonary, metabolic and airway abnormalities that only occur during physically stressful situations, such as:
- Air travel
- Exercise, ranging from mild activity to high-level competition
- High altitudes
- SCUBA diving
Our state-of-the-art lab provides a safe and controlled environment, from which we can simulate specific stressful events and assess how your child will respond to them. With this information, our specialists can help you and your child better plan for future activities or circumstances that may pose a problem. This service is available for both otherwise healthy children and those with chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.
Physician services are provided by Atlantic Medical Group.
