Eating disorder treatment options
We believe that eating disorder treatment must address all psychological, family, social, nutritional and medical issues to be effective.
Caring in the recovery process
Eating disorders, like anorexia and bulimia, are serious illnesses that can result in both medical and psychological complications. Prompt treatment is essential, but parents are often uncertain if their child has an eating disorder and don’t know where to turn for help.
The good news is that with the proper care, full recovery from pediatric anorexia nervosa, pediatric bulimia nervosa and other pediatric eating disorders is possible. Atlantic Health can help, our program is the only one in New Jersey that is exclusive to children ages 8 to 12 and adolescents ages 13 to 21. Parents are included in all aspects of care from the earliest stages of diagnosis through treatment. We offer outpatient care as well as a partial hospitalization program (PHP).
Patients receive medical and mental health evaluations to help identify and diagnose eating disorders and provide a family-based treatment model of therapy.
Atlantic Health focuses on outpatient care so that patients can remain close to home and their families can fully participate in the recovery process. Therapy typically includes medical monitoring, nutritional counseling, psychiatric and psychosocial consultations and Family-Based Treatment. Physician services are provided by Atlantic Medical Group and are on staff at Goryeb Children's Hospital.
