Project SEARCH

Through Project SEARCH, we offer year-long internship opportunities at three of our New Jersey hospitals for young adults with developmental differences.

Project SEARCH

Helping young adults with disabilities build skills, confidence, and careers.

Employment opportunities for neurodiverse young adults

At Atlantic Health System, we value diversity and are committed to inclusivity. We celebrate our differences and strive to create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard and accepted.

One way we achieve this is through our ongoing partnership with Project SEARCH, a nationwide employment preparation program for young adults with intellectual and developmental differences.

Since 2016, Atlantic Health System has helped nearly one hundred neurodiverse young people gain the skills and confidence they need to be employable. In fact, 80% of our graduates are gainfully employed — with one-third of them working right here with us at Atlantic Health.

We are proud to say Overlook Medical Center was the first Project SEARCH partner in New Jersey and the first hospital to hire a Project SEARCH intern for full-time employment.

Today, we offer internship programs at Overlook, Newton and Hackettstown medical centers.

About the Program

"The main goal of Project SEARCH is to help students with varying disabilities develop transferrable and marketable job skills — but it does more than that. The program empowers our students to become more independent and self-determined."
