Atlantic Health Medical Centers Are “Top Hospitals” According to Castle Connolly

National health care research firm examines thousands of hospitals to create annual list of honorees

MORRISTOWN, NJ – MARCH 13, 2026 – Atlantic Health is home to four Castle Connolly Top Hospitals for 2026, including Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, one of only 38 Gold Standard Hospitals in the nation. The Top Hospitals list is an annual assessment of hospitals across the nation conducted by the health care research firm, based on patient outcomes, quality of care, and an analysis of claims data.

Joining Atlantic Health Overlook on the list are Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center (nationally ranked in Cancer Surgery, General Surgery, Heart & Vascular Surgery, ObGyn Surgery, Mastectomy, Weight Loss Surgery, Heart Valve Replacement, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery, Carotid Artery Surgery, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair and Hysterectomy), Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center (nationally ranked in Cancer Surgery and Mastectomy), and Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center (regionally ranked in Cancer Surgery, General Surgery, Mastectomy and Hernia Repair Surgery). Atlantic Health Overlook was also nationally ranked in General Surgery, ObGyn Surgery, Weight Loss Surgery, Hysterectomy and Colon Surgery.

The Castle Connolly Top Hospitals program recognizes 1,663 hospitals for their quality of care across six specialties and 19 procedures. Honorees are organized across national, state and metro area tiers with national being the most exclusive. Additionally, the top tier of overall performers at the national level are recognized with the Gold Standard designation.

Castle Connolly’s Top Hospitals methodology focuses less on reputation surveys and more on a comprehensive data set that pulls from both public and private insurance as well as inpatient and outpatient data.

Key elements include:

Comprehensive all-payor claims data
Advanced clinical performance measures including mortality rates, complication rates and patient safety measures
The number of Castle Connolly Top Doctors within a hospital
