All tests and procedures offered at Atlantic Health's radiology departments require a scheduled appointment, except X-rays, which in most cases are performed on a walk-in basis.

What to bring

When you arrive for your appointment, please present:

Picture identification and insurance cards
Pre-certification – check with your insurance provider prior to scheduling an appointment if this is required
Signed prescription with proper diagnosis code (ICD-9 code) – is required for all procedures

Please note that wait times vary depending on the volume of patients being seen at the time of your arrival.

Preparing for an X-ray

You may be asked to remove some or all of your clothes and wear a gown during the exam.
Remove jewelry, dentures, eye glasses and any metal objects or clothing that might interfere with the X-ray images.
Women should inform their physician and technologist if there is any possibility that they are pregnant. If an X-ray is necessary, precautions will be taken to minimize radiation exposure to the baby.
To avoid delays, remember to bring a copy of your prescription.

X-ray results

Atlantic Health's radiologists are experts in supervising and interpreting radiology examinations. They will interpret your X-ray images and send a signed report to your primary care physician or the physician who referred you for the exam.

Atlantic Health's radiology services are conveniently available at Chilton, Hackettstown, Morristown, Newton and Overlook medical centers as well as Goryeb Children's Hospital and other outpatient sites. Depending upon what service you need, locations and hours may vary.
