Quick and convenient laboratory testing

At CentraState Laboratory– Manalapan, we provide routine and STAT (urgent) testing for all ages, from infants through seniors. Our careful and considerate phlebotomists (health care professionals who specialize in drawing blood) are highly skilled at preventing or limiting any potential discomfort.

We offer comprehensive diagnostic testing and can perform more than 500 different diagnostic lab tests, including:

  • Basic Metabolic Panels (BMP)
  • CBC (complete blood count)
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panels (CMP)
  • Glucose tests
  • Hemoglobin A1C tests
  • Lipid profiles
  • Liver function tests
  • Mono tests
  • Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) tests
  • Thyroid tests
  • Urinalysis tests and urine cultures
  • Vitamin D tests

Some diagnostic procedures require fasting, which means you may not eat or drink anything other than water, typically after midnight the day of your test. Your medical provider will provide you with instructions on how long you should fast.

Appointments are required for a glucose screening and a glucose tolerance test.

  • Glucose screening: You do not need to fast. We will give you a sugary drink to drink, and then we will draw blood one hour later.
  • Glucose tolerance test: This test may take up to three hours. You will need to fast overnight. Follow your medical provider’s instructions. Upon arrival, we will take a blood sample to establish a baseline. After you consume a sugary drink, we will draw blood several more times over the next one to three hours.

We can provide take-home kits for stool sample testing. Your medical provider will provide you with instructions on how to complete the stool sample, including how quickly you need to bring your sample to the lab. There are also instructions with the kits. Our lab technicians are happy to answer any questions you may have.

When collecting urine for testing, it’s important that it’s a “clean catch.” Once at the lab, you will need to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water. Do not dry them. Your lab technician will explain how to use a cleansing towelette prior to urinating. You will urinate in the toilet and then catch a stream of urine in the container.
