 Interventional gastroenterology

Atlantic Health Gastroenterology offers interventional gastroenterology procedures to diagnose and treat complex digestive disorders using minimally invasive, endoscopic techniques. These specialized procedures often provide effective alternatives to surgery, helping patients recover more quickly with less discomfort and shorter recovery times. Services include:

• ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography): used to diagnose and treat disorders of the bile ducts and pancreas, including gallstones, strictures, bile leaks, and certain pancreatic conditions.
• Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS): combines endoscopy with ultrasound imaging to provide detailed views of the digestive tract and surrounding organs. EUS is used to evaluate pancreatic and biliary diseases, stage gastrointestinal cancers, obtain tissue samples, and guide therapeutic procedures.
• EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection): a minimally invasive technique used to remove precancerous and early-stage cancerous lesions from the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, often eliminating the need for surgery.
• Gastrointestinal lumen stent placement: used to relieve obstructions caused by benign or malignant conditions, improving swallowing and restoring the passage of food and digestive contents.
• Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection
• Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM)
• Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty
• Double Balloon Enteroscopy
• Transoral Outlet Reduction (TORe)

Research and clinical trials

• We have a multidisciplinary team consisting of expert gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, nutritionists, behavioral health specialists, pathologists, radiologists and clinical pharmacists. Our IBD team provides a one-stop shop and offers meaningful experiences such as tandem appointments with the IBD gastroenterologist and colorectal surgeon.
• We provide second opinion consultations that help streamline your IBD care, while maintaining a patient relationship with the primary gastroenterologist. Our IBD transition program allows pediatric patients to seamlessly integrate into the adult care and provides opportunities for a whole family approach in collaboration with the IBD Pediatric Center at Morristown.
