Sanjay Michael Salgado, MD

Sanjay Salgado, MD, is a fellowship-trained gastroenterologist specializing in interventional gastroenterology and advanced endoscopic imaging with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in internal medicine and in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he has clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating digestive disorders using therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound, submucosal dissection and resection, and endoscopic surgical techniques including endoscopic bariatric surgery, esophageal and gastric endoscopic myotomies (POEM procedures), Zenker’s diverticulectomy, Barrett’s esophagus, pancreatic cyst management, endoscopic suturing, endoscopic weight management options, including endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty.

After earning his medical degree at the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University, NYC, Dr. Salgado completed his residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. During his residency, he also served as chief medical resident at the West Roxbury VA Hospital, West Roxbury, MA. He then completed a medical education fellowship, also at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and earned a master’s degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Cambridge, MA. Dr. Salgado subsequently completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he was named chief gastroenterology fellow, before completing a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at New York-Presbyterian Hospital at Weill Cornell Medical Center, NYC.

An avid educator, Dr. Salgado has served as an instructor in medicine at both Harvard Medical School and Weill Cornell Medical College before joining AMG. He was the winner of multiple awards, honors and grants, and currently serves on a Guideline Committee for Endoscopy Credentialing. Dr. Salgado has been invited to deliver lectures at national and international medical schools. He has served as a peer-reviewer for the Journal of General Internal Medicine and the Journal of Graduate Medical Education as well as authored over 50 abstracts, articles and textbook chapters. He is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization
