Puja Patel, DO

Puja Patel, DO, is a rheumatologist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Patel specializes in treating inflammatory (rheumatic) disorders. She provides care for patients with autoimmune diseases, connective tissue disorders and inflammatory conditions affecting the muscles, joints and bones. Understanding how pain can limit her patients’ comfort and quality of life, Dr. Patel strives to help them manage their conditions so they can return to fully participating in their lives. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Gujarati.

After earning her medical degree from Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, Dr. Patel finished an internal medicine residency at Penn State Health – Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She remained in Pennsylvania to complete a rheumatology fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she was elected as a chief rheumatology fellow during her final year. Prior to joining AMG, Dr. Patel served as a staff rheumatologist at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey.

Dedicated to improving patient outcomes, she has collaborated on research to explore treatment responses in patients with osteoarthritis in relation to racial and gender differences. Dr. Patel is a member of several notable organizations, including the American College of Rheumatology, the American College of Physicians and the Association of Women in Rheumatology. She is also a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
