Melissa B. Lesko, DO

Melissa B. Lesko, DO, is a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician with Atlantic Medical Group. Board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she has extensive experience in lung transplantation, interstitial lung disease and the management of advanced respiratory failure and end-stage lung disease. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to all patients and ensuring they are educated about their condition and treatment.

Dr. Lesko earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in NYC, followed by pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship training at NYU Medical Center with clinical rotations at Bellevue Hospital and the VA Medical Center in NYC. She has served in multiple academic and clinical leadership roles at NYU Langone, including assistant professor of medicine and program director of the lung transplant fellowship. Her clinical work focuses on the management of advanced lung disease including interstitial lung disease and lymphangioleiomyomatosis, donor management of potential lung donors and pulmonary disease in immunocompromised patients. She is also actively involved in medical education, teaching medical students, residents and fellows and has held curriculum development and committee leadership roles within NYU’s pulmonary and transplant training programs.

Dr. Lesko has authored peer-reviewed publications, delivered presentations, is on the editorial board for the Pearls section of CHEST and is a member of the professional organizations International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) and American College of Chest Physicians. She is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
