Leah Jean Gonzalez Cohen, MD

Leah J.G. Cohen, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery, with expertise in conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow. She believes that good care begins with understanding each patient's concerns, lifestyle, and goals and that treatment should be tailored to help patients return to the things that matter most to them. Her approach emphasizes careful evaluation, individualized treatment and helping patients achieve the best possible functional outcomes.

Dr. Cohen completed her medical degree at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, followed by orthopedic surgery residency at NYU Langone and fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. Her training encompasses the evaluation and treatment of a broad range of upper extremity conditions, including fractures and traumatic injuries, nerve compression and injury, tendon disorders and arthritis.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Cohen has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national orthopedic and hand surgery meetings. Her research has addressed fracture outcomes, surgical techniques and patient function. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Orthopaedic Trauma Association's Best Poster Award for her work.
