Joseph A Wong, MD

Joseph Wong, MD, is a non-operative sports medicine and musculoskeletal rehabilitation specialist with Atlantic Medical Group. Fellowship-trained and board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) as well as sports medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he cares for patients experiencing musculoskeletal pain and injuries including common diagnoses such as arthritis, tendinitis, bursitis of the extremities. Dr. Wong is RMSK-certified in musculoskeletal sonography through the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement (APCA) and specializes in the ultrasound-guided interventions and treatments. Dr. Wong’s clinical interests include sports injury care, diagnostic and ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal interventions, regenerative medicine, and medical education.

Prior to joining Atlantic Medical Group, Dr. Wong served as assistant professor at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine training physicians in sports medicine and PM&R, as well as serving as team physician to several university and high school student athletes.

Dedicated to delivering the highest quality patient care, Dr. Wong earned his medical degree at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Washington, DC. His residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation was performed at JFK Medical Center, Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, Edison, NJ, where he was named chief resident and resident teacher of the year. He completed his fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Geisinger Health System, Wilkes-Barre, PA, where he received the Top Patient Experience Clinicians Award.

Dr. Wong has participated in several research studies in sports medicine and PM&R and has lectured and presented at numerous national conferences, as well as authoring publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, Biologic Association. He speaks English, and basic Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. He is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
