Pulmonary hypertension

Pulmonary hypertension can make everyday activities feel exhausting and overwhelming. Our pulmonary specialists focus on early diagnosis, advanced testing and personalized care plans to help you breathe easier and protect long-term heart and lung health.

High blood pressure

Pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs, occurs when the vessels carrying blood to the lungs become too narrow. This reduces flow capacity and makes the right side of the heart work harder and become larger. Symptoms include chest pain, dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath and swelling in the legs, ankles or abdomen.

Although there is no cure for pulmonary hypertension, the Respiratory Therapy Department offers services that can improve symptoms and long-term outcomes.
