Get the best in emergency department care
CentraState Medical Center’s Emergency Department (ED) is a state-of-the-art, Level II emergency facility. Our highly trained emergency physicians and Magnet-recognized nursing team provide prompt, expert emergency care for patients of all ages — 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
CentraState is a certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, as well as an accredited Chest Pain Center. Our Primary Stroke Center includes an on-site, 24/7 specialty-trained “Stroke Alert” response team to assess patients in the ED and initiate an immediate treatment protocol.
Our ED earned the prestigious Lantern Award. This honor highlights the nursing staff’s dedication to excellent patient care in emergency services.
Pediatric ER: Our pediatric emergency physicians, specially trained to care for children and adolescents, are available 24/7. Children quickly go to a dedicated, child-friendly area separate from the adult care
zones. This space features private rooms with comforting, child-friendly decor and large flat-screen LCD televisions, all designed to help put young patients at ease in a reassuring environment.
First Care Urgent Care: Receive treatment for non-life-threatening problems that could become worse without treatment, such as breathing problems, sprains, allergic reactions, lacerations or abdominal issues. Other services include:
- Allergic reactions
- Bronchitis
- Minor burns
- Eye & ear infections
- Crutches, boots, splints, & braces
- Immunizations
- X-rays
- Blood & urine tests
Our urgent care unit is open 7 days a week, from 11am to 11pm. Most health insurances and self-pay accepted.
Observation unit: The observation unit allows our physicians to monitor and evaluate the medical condition of patients who do not meet criteria for inpatient admission but are not well enough to go home without requiring further observation. The unit is a part of our ongoing effort to shorten patient stays in the Emergency Department and centralizing care.
While under observation, a multidisciplinary care team will regularly assess patients. After providing all necessary diagnostic tests, medications and therapies, a physician will discuss with the patient whether the patient should be admitted to the hospital or be discharged with follow-up services. This observation period generally lasts 24 hours.
