Matcha energy smoothie

Green matcha smoothie

If you’re looking for a way to hop on the matcha trend—give this five-minute smoothie a try. Matcha’s bold flavor is packed with antioxidants that are full of healing properties. And when you combine this green tea powder with yogurt, leafy greens, banana, almonds and a touch of natural sweetener,  you’ve made a yummy protein- and fiber-packed energy booster.

Serves: 1

Prep time: 5 minutes                                            Total time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 c. ice cubes
  • 1 c. unsweetened almond, coconut or cashew milk
  • 4 oz. plain Greek or plant-based yogurt
  • 1 c. fresh leafy greens (spinach, kale, etc.)
  • 1 small banana, sliced
  • 1/8 c. sliced almonds
  • 1 Tbsp. matcha green tea powder
  • 1-2 tsp. honey or pure maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. In this order, add ice cubes, almond milk, yogurt, greens, sliced banana, almonds, matcha powder and sweetener to a blender or food processor.
  2. Cover and blend on medium speed for about 30 seconds. Increase to high speed for 30 to 60 seconds until thick and smooth. Adjust almond milk or ice to reach the desired consistency. Add more sweetener to taste.
