John Erickson, MD

Dr. John Erickson is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Atlantic Medical Group Orthopedics in New Providence. With expertise in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand procedures, Dr. Erickson utilizes state-of-the-art techniques to treat the entire upper extremity.Dr. Erickson earned his medical degree at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. While there, he was chosen for the AOA, a national honor society for medical students, and won the Rudy Camishion Award for Academic Excellence in Surgery. John then stayed at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson to complete his orthopedic surgery residency. John earned the Orthopedic Surgery Resident of the Year Award in 2016 and was nominated to the national American Orthopaedic Association’s Emerging Leaders Program. Dr. Erickson is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in the Biological Basis of Behavior, a discipline that has helped him improve doctor-patient communication and better understand the patient perspective.Dr. Erickson’s post-graduate training also includes a fellowship at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he focused on procedures for the hand and upper extremity. He traveled to Lyon, France, for a shoulder surgery fellowship with renowned experts Gilles Walch, Arnaud Godeneche and Lionel Neyton at the Centre Orthopedique Santy. John has also completed a fellowship with one of New Zealand’s most high-volume and well-published upper extremity surgeons, Dr. Peter Poon. Dr. Erickson treats his patients with high-level expertise for their hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder conditions.
