About me
Analena Alcabes, MD, is a colon and rectal surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group offering advanced, compassionate care for a wide range of colorectal conditions. Board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, she brings deep clinical expertise and a patient-first philosophy to every interaction, empowering patients with knowledge, support and individualized treatment plans.
Dr. Alcabes graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College before earning her medical degree at the prestigious Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, followed by two years of specialty training; a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and a fellowship in minimally invasive colorectal surgery at Lankenau Medical Center with world-renowned expert in advanced rectal cancer management, Dr. John Marks.
Dr. Alcabes has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, presented her research on national stages and remains an active member of both the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. As a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization, she is committed to delivering high-quality, coordinated care that improves outcomes and enhances the patient experience.
Whether treating complex colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease or benign anorectal conditions, Dr. Alcabes is known for her technical excellence, warm bedside manner and collaborative approach. She is proud to be part of a multidisciplinary team advancing surgical care in New Jersey and is excited to work alongside colleagues who share her passion for innovation and excellence in patient care. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
